MICHAEL RUBINOFF (Producer/Director)

Michael Rubinoff produces and directs musicals. As a producer/director, credits include, Side By Side By Sondheim (Poor Alex Theatre), Free To Be...You And Me (St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, Vaughan City Playhouse) A Chorus Line (St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, Jane Mallett Theatre) and Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers, (Talbot Theatre, London, Ontario). As a producer, he produces the Cityscapes Cabaret at the Hummingbird Centre for the Performing Arts and is working on the upcoming productions of the Les Miserables: School Edition (Isabel Bader Theatre) and the Kenneth Lonergan play, This is Our Youth (Berkeley St. Theatre, Upstairs). He is also Managing Director of Stage Door Schools for the Performing Arts.

He served as Theatre Western Commissioner, supervising theatre at the University of Western Ontario (UWO) in 2000/2001. He was a member of the Theatre Staff and Head of Theatre at Camp Walden, directing and working on 25 musicals, over a span of eight years. Michael was a member of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema Television and Radio Artists. In the past he has appeared on TV and in films produced by CBC, Warner Brothers, and Disney.

Michael received his B.A., in political science in 1998, and an LL.B. in 2001 from UWO. While at UWO he served on the Board of Governors and two terms as Legal Society President. In 1997 he ran for Member of Parliament in the riding of London North Centre and was one of the youngest candidates in the country to do so.

Michael was nominated for a Rhodes Scholarship in 1997 and has been recognized for his commitment to student government and the arts. At his law school convocation ceremonies, he had the honour of representing his class as Valedictorian.

Prior to producing and directing full time, Michael was a lawyer with the Toronto law firm Goodman and Carr LLP.
