Tanya Turner - Mistress/Ensemble A native of Kemptville, Ontario, Tanya began her voice studies in Ottawa and earned both bachelors and masters degrees in music from The University of Toronto. Tanya was a soloist with The Orpheus Choir of Toronto, The Deer Park Vocal Ensemble, The Hart House Orchestra, The Toronto Symphony Orchestra and The Canadian Centennial Choir. She has performed at the Mountainview International Festival of Song and her repertoire includes the roles of The First Lady in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Paquette in Leonard Bernstein's Candide, Bubikoff in Viktor Ullmann's Der Kaiser von Atlantis and Maybel in the Pirates of Penzance, Mrs. Gobineau in Menotti's The Medium and Collette in C.W. Gluck's L'ivrogne Corrigé. Tanya can be heard on the Centredisc recording A Window on Somers and is currently a member of the Toronto-based professional choral ensemble the Elmer Iseler Singers. Most recently Tanya performed in a bravura performance of Side by Side by Sondheim at Toronto's intimate Poor Alex Theatre. |
