MICHAEL RUBINOFF
Michael Rubinoff earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science (1998) and a Bachelor of Laws (2001, Valedictorian) from the University of Western Ontario. While at UWO he served on the Board of Governors and two terms as Legal Society President. In 1997 he ran for Member of Parliament in the riding of London North Centre and was one of the youngest candidates in the country to do so.  Soon after being called to the Ontario Bar he left his Toronto law firm, to launch M. Rubinoff Productions Inc., a commercial theatre company producing in the City of Toronto.
His inaugural production of A Chorus Line at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts was the highest grossing show ever to play the Jane Mallett Theatre until his production of Evita the following summer. His other theatrical credits include the Toronto premieres of the Off-Broadway comedies Game Show and Matt and Ben.
He produced Toronto productions of This Is Our Youth directed by Woody Harrelson, Free To Be...You And Me, Side By Side by Sondheim and the Les Miserables: School Edition.
In March of 2004 he produced the first workshop of the new musical Plane Crazy and continues his two-year involvement with the show as Producer of the New York premiere as part of the Next Link Project at the 2005 New York Musical Theatre Festival this fall.
Michael is a 2004 graduate of the Commercial Theatre Institute’s 14-week intensive in New York and is a board member of ScriptLab, a not-for-profit organization in Toronto, with a current commitment to the development of the works and the artists of the Canadian Musical Theatre.
In addition to producing theatre he practices entertainment, real estate, and corporate law with M. Lloyd Rubinoff & Associates. Clients include the Toronto production of Annie Get Your Gun starring Tony nominee Louise Pitre.
